Australian business confidence on the rise leading into the 2016 Roads & Civil Works Expo

Australia’s business confidence has jumped to its highest level in almost five years, according to the latest Sensis Business Index (SBI).

The survey, released in January, shows that more than three times as many businesses are now confident as those that are worried.

This represents a 12-point rise in confidence among small and mid-size businesses (SMBs) in the December quarter of 2015, with confidence going up in every state and territory except the Australian Capital Territory. The SBI polls 1000 business owners in every state and territory, both in metro and regional locations to gather this information.

According to this latest SBI report, Australian business confidence has reached its highest level since March 2011.

Most industry sectors saw improvements during the quarter and, most notably, business confidence among the building and construction sector saw a strong rise. According to the report, the sector moved from below the national average to become the second most confident sector.

“Confidence in the market means people are going to be looking at growing their businesses – finding ways to expand, network and invest,” comments Simon Coburn, Show Director for the upcoming 2016 Roads & Civil Works Expo. “We’re already seeing this confidence show in the number of businesses signing up to exhibit at the expo,” he adds.

“It’s great to see businesses hopeful and excited for the future. We believe this to be a great sign that many visitors to the Roads & Civil Works Expo will come along with a rejuvenated perspective and the confidence to create business contacts and make informed investments,” says Coburn.

The Roads & Civil Works Expo is run in conjunction with the 2016 International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show (ITTES2016) and inaugural Waste Management in Action.

Since its inception, ITTES has grown to attract in excess of 35,000 attendees, and with the inclusion of Roads & Civil Works Expo and Waste Management in Action, that number is anticipated to grow even more.

The event will take over the Melbourne Showgrounds from May 5 – 7 2016.
